Notts County 5-3 Crawley Town
Notts County haven't found the back of the net too often at Meadow Lane this season, even though we've had a good run of form. There were goals aplenty in the game with Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon though with us collecting the points.
We had previously struggled to score more than one goal in a game at home, but when we managed five, including a 'perfect hat-trick' from Garry Thompson it helped us to a 5-3 win.
County were quickly out of the traps with Stephen McLaughlin finding Thompson (9) who duly opened the scoring, which was soon doubled when Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Zeli Ismail (18) headed home the second.
Thompson (37) took advantage of some more poor defending from the visitors to get his second, and our third, before half time to leave us in complete control.
Whatever was said to Crawley at half time worked as within 10-minutes of the restart the visitors were right back in the game, firstly Gwion Edwards (50) scored with Matt Harrold (55) then making it three-two.
A Thompson (63) hat-trick, a 'perfect hat-trick' of left and right footed strikes with a header to finish off, not only gave the veteran a career first treble it also gave us a two-goal cushion again, which was extended to three once more when another veteran Gary Jones (80) made sure of the win when his effort was deflected past a wrong footed Brian Jensen (80).
Crawley scored again when Marvin Elliott (84) headed home to have the last say but it was nothing more than a consolation as we extended an unbeaten run to nine.
