Notts County eased into the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night with a comfortable win over our local neighbours.

The worry was that Mansfield Town would come to Meadow Lane and cause a JPT upset; they weren't able to do this as County proved too strong in a 2-0 win.

We dominated the early stages of the game, much of the game really, but Mansfield managed to weather the early storm before we eventually got the breakthrough just ahead of the half hour mark, that we deserved.

Fine Jake Cassidy and Ronan Murray interchange play on the edge of the box ended with Murray (28) finally firing into the bottom corner.

Birmingham City loanee winger Reece Brown almost added a second before the break, but one was enough at half time to send us in one-nil up, which was the least that we deserved.

An equaliser never really looked like coming but Alex Fisher did make our 'keeper Fabian Spiess save early in the second half before Cassidy (65) finished from close range to secure our two-nil win.
