Alan Hardy back in the game?

An interesting tweet from BBC Radio Nottingham Sport:

Exclusive: An approach has been made by a representative of Ray Trew to Alan Hardy about taking over Notts. Hardy response not yet known.

I would assume there must be some substance to this as there is no 'We understand that...' It'll be interesting to see what transpires but Hardy must be in a strong position if he is being approached.

What are everyone's feelings about this? I have no animosity whatsoever towards the Trews but I still feel that the club needs re-energising and this just might be the way to do it. Hardy is a successful businessman and a former footballer so he will know something about how clubs operate. I await developments with interest.

Depends how much Hardy has to invest in the team after buying the Club. No one makes a profit as owner at this level.

I would guess that Hardy now holds all the aces when it comes to negotiating a price and that it will be significantly less than what Ray Trew was hoping for 6 months ago. Investment is certainly crucial but so is an ability to increase revenues into the club.

That means a winning team to put bums on seats. Full circle and back to performances on the pitch.

There is a ceiling to the gates, always has been since the 80's.

Seems Hardy's ambition is the Championship in 3 - 6 years. We can do that under the Trews if JS remains in charge.

I think this is about RT recouping some money.

After being rebuffed earlier this year I suspect AH will take a hard line when negotiating and will want total control including the banqueting and conference arms of the club.

He certainly seems proud of the conference and banqueting facilities that he has at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club so I would be amazed if he didn't want control of everything.

The problem for anyone who wants RT to remain is that he himself seemingly wants out. If that's the case, then it will be better for all concerned if he is able to move on.

What follows next will always be a risk but AH, being a local businessman, has more to lose than just money if it goes wrong.

I'm ambivalent about this. All I want is a successful league team.

Well, that's all gone very quiet again.
I was actually hoping that Ray Trew and Aileen were happy enough to let the club quietly build and leave Jason Turner and John Sheridan to it with a decent budget.

It'll be interesting to see what update, if any, Uncle Colin has about it tomorrow.

Yes, I'd be interested too. On the one hand I would like the club to just settle down and build quietly with a steady manager, youth players coming through, sensible transfers and the odd gem. On the other , a new owner might inject a stimulus , Ray TRew nearly broke us last season with his bizarre appointments and mega tantrum.

We might be under the radar with all the goings on over the river?

Seems like Hardys looking at the books , according to Colin Slater. So the deal isn't dead in the water and if Trew takes the hit we may well be sold by Christmas.

If it's going to happen, it would be better for everyone if it's finalised before the transfer window opens. Could be an interesting few weeks ahead.
