Some interesting little insights.

Not sure I agree with his sentiment that we played ok at the start of the game, seemed to be widely agreed that we didn't

I thought we started very slowly. It took Crawley's goal to wake us up.

Thats the impression I got too. Seems odd coming from a man many claim can read a game well.

We were ok for the first 10 minutes with most of the game played in their half. After that the passing became sloppy, they started creating a bit and it was no great surprise when they scored. The two quick goals turned the game, and we never looked in trouble after that.

I live the other side of the world and don't get to games as you know, but reading between the lines (in Eddie's interview and elsewhere) it seems that Alan Smith is a majorly positive influence on the club/team/squad. I know he gets slagged off for performances by those that see the whole games, but everyone at the club has only great things to say about his effect on the club.

If I'm honest I hope he stays on and continues to work on the staff of Notts after his retirement.

Alan Smith clearly loves football and while he has made a fantastic living from the game, he certainly isn't like some of the mercenaries that frequent this industry in such great numbers these days.
