Every L2 fixture on next weekend except ours

So with our game on 5th September against Crawley off and every other team still playing, we could fall even further behind if we don't beat Morecambe tomorrow, which makes it a really important game and a big test of Moniz's motivational skills, seeing that we always seem to have a problem focusing on league fixtures that follow a big cup tie.

Should be a decent following to a new ground by the sea.

That's the problem with having an International standard squad!

Seriously, I don't like relying on 'games in hand' to move up the table.

I think this must be the first time we've ever asked for a 4th tier fixture to be post-poned because of International call-ups.

"falling behind" shouldn't be the worry, anyone looking at the table this early in the season is wasting their time. It means nothing. What we should be worrying about is our "international standard" players getting injured while they are away. Losing a player to injury whilst he is playing for Notts is one thing, at least he was contributing to our cause. But, a player injured whilst on international duty seems a waste.

Which players do we have away on international duty?

I'm not sure we really needed to cancel today - Loach is a good enough replacement for Carroll (who was only on the bench last night for NI), I'd be confident enough with Pilks on the bench for one game.

We've got a big enough squad to cover any others haven't we?

Edit - after reading the article by Moniz after the Mansfield game maybe I'm wrong!

Amevor was playing for Togo in the African Nations. I think that Hewitt was on standby for Wales Under 21s too. As it has turned out, I think this mini break has come at the perfect time for us.

Given Tuesday's performance we might've been fine, but an extra few days to work on defensive drills and fitness won't hurt.
