No County Return For Edwards

No County Return For Edwards

Manager Shaun Derry has said that former player Mike Edwards won't be returning to Notts County, but he has been training with us and will get a run out in the game against Carlton Town.

Having spent eight years with the club after joining us from Grimsby, he was released by Carlisle United over the summer and is currently without a club, and he has been training with the lads for the last few weeks to build and improve his fitness as he seeks new employers.

Derry has guaranteed him a run out tonight to help that process, but did confirm to the Official Site that it wasn't a trial or a precursor to a move.

'For what Mike has done for this club, when he asked to participate in training there was only one answer and that was a resounding yes. He's set a standard with his professionalism, a standard that we're trying to get across to our younger players and if we can help him out in anyway in his hunt for a new club, it's the very least we can do. Hopefully this 90 minutes tonight will go a long way in his own pre season preparation.'
