'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Nuneaton 0-0 County

Our third pre season friendly of the summer ended in a draw last night and manager Shaun Derry would've been more pleased with the performance following on from his words after the loss to Mansfield, because County could consider themselves unlucky not to have won.

With our accepted starting eleven for the coming campaign playing around 70 minutes of the match it was a definite step up in terms of fitness and pushing the first team lads, but it was a game where neither keeper was overly tested.

Our best effort fell to Ronan Murray and we did look brighter when Alan Smith moved further forward, but the break through wasn't to come, especially when we were declined a penalty.

Following on from Bartosz Bialkowski's move to Ipswich Town it was also the first chance for Fabian Spiess to try and make an impression and and convince the gaffer not to look for a replacement but instead to put his trust in him, and keeping a clean sheet, making a couple of good saves in the process, is the way to go about that.
