'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Huge Spencer Blow

Striker Jimmy Spencer's season is now over following the freak injury he sustained in the Arnold Town game the other day.

The worst possible news following the injury is in, and that is ultimately he will now miss the entire 2014-15 campaign with a serious knee injury.

Speaking to the Official Site after giving the players the news following the Mansfield defeat, Derry explained.

'We're going to lose Jimmy for the whole season because he's done his cruciate ligament and as it stands it's not good. It's a major blow for us all and it's come to that stage now where we're looking for some sort of replacement. Jimmy's been absolutely fantastic - absolutely fantastic for us and I feel heartily sorry for him first and foremost. As a person, I feel so, so sorry for Jimmy but we'll support him and I feel that he belongs with us.'

Derry goes on to say that although it will be a long road back for Jimmy, he's more than confident he will get back and be bigger, better and stronger for it in the future, especially owing to the mental strength he will have to show in his recovery period.

No doubt it's a huge blow though given the part he played in our great escape last season, as Derry had predicted big things for him this campaign.
