Wroe Will Be A Big Player In 2014-15

Wroe Will Be A Big Player In 2014-15

Manager Shaun Derry has said that he believes Nicky Wroe will be a big player for us this season in our midfield and he's expecting him to add bite and goals to our engine room.

Speaking to the Official Site about what he expects from the 28 year old, Derry explained.

'I know what I was like when I was a 28 year old, I just felt that I was right on top of my game and that's the stage that I think Nicky's at. I want him to come in and be a big player for us and that's why I've given him the number eight shirt. I want him to be that type of player that joins in and gets his goals from midfield.'

Having noticed that from midfield last season we didn't score nearly enough as we should've done, that has been part of Derry's thinking in his summer recruitment and he goes on to say that he feels Wroe could be a player who gets himself into double figures as the month draw on, as he certainly wants the other units on the pitch to chip in with goals in the future.

If we can get an extra 15-20 from midfield, and then a further 10 or so from the defensive lads, it should certainly help us to take more games and three points and ease the pressure on our forward lads, and football is pretty simple in the sense of the more threats you can carry the better chance you have of winning, so it should help to translate to a better league position ultimately, which is what everyone wants.
