Derry Deeply Frustrated To Not Take A Point

Manager Shaun Derry has said following the game against Bristol City that come full time had we only taken a point from the game he would've been frustrated, so to not see us even come away with that following a good performance and dominant showing from the lads has left him deeply frustrated as we continue to fight for our League One status.

The defeat unfortunately leaves us three points off safety with only three games remaining now, but for Derry as he spoke to the Official Site he feels that were huge positives that we can take out of the showing to give us hope for the coming matches.

'For once I'm perhaps lost for words but what a cruel game we're in. I can't rant and rave, and shout and scream because we're a team and a group of friends in there - the lads are together all the time now. We've not been very good away from home - it's as simple as that - and we knew that we needed to put in a performance to get anything out of the game. To put in a performance of that magnitude, I think that tells a lot of stories of how far we've come.'

Derry goes on to say that our performance against City was without doubt the best away performance of the season 'by a long shot' so it's absolutely gutting to not even come away with a point to show for it, saying it's 'absolutely heartbreaking'.

'I said at Peterborough away that I don't like taking positives when we've lost but we did there and I do today.'

What counts now for the gaffer is that the players take all of that frustration and anger and channel it into Monday's match against Crawley Town to ensure we get back to winning ways and give ourselves that shot to capitalise on others slipping up and pulling ourselves out of it again by picking up the victory, as a draw at this stage of the season really won't do.

He does know however that Crawley will be a tough match as they have now won three on the trot and are full of confidence again, so it's another of those where we'll need a good performance and if we put it in, then we do have more than enough about us to take all three points and hit full time with the result that we need.
