Derry's Delight At Posh Performance

Manager Shaun Derry has said our performance in last night's game against Peterborough United was 'unbelievable' and he couldn't credit the lads enough for their efforts even though we ended up on the wrong side of a seven goal thriller.

Peterborough unfortunately grabbed the winner in the game, but we certainly didn't embarrass or let ourselves down with a cracking performance and three goals from Enoch Showunmi, Ronan Murray and Jack Grealish.

The unfortunate point in the game came on 16 minutes when Murray was dismissed for a punch on Danny Swanson, so our efforts on the night being down to ten men for so long are even more creditable but Derry obviously couldn't shake what might have been had it not been for a moment of utter stupidity.

'The red card wasn't in the script today obviously and I don't know what to say after that, you have a game plan and it went to plan for the first 10-15 minutes. I said 'start well' to put them on the back foot and we did that but then we pressed the self destruct button, which has been pressed too many times this season.'

Derry goes on to say that despite his displeasure, he wasn't going to overly berate Murray because he had been fantastic for us until that point, but it is most certainly a valuable lesson that he has to learn, because he has let the team and the club down, let alone himself and young kid or not, you simply cannot do that.

'He's done it and it's cost us dearly and I'm bitterly disappointed.'

Derry goes on to say that he really does believe that we'd have come out of the game with all three points had we not gone down to ten men, but he really can't praise the players enough for the efforts on the day and unfortunately we've come out of the game not having taken from it what we deserved. However, he did joke that it used to wind him up when he heard managers use the cliche of being determined to take positives from games that they had lost, but last night he definitely understood what they meant.
