Showunmi Delighted To Get Back On The Score Sheet

Striker Enoch Showunmi has said he was delighted to score his first goal for the club again since last August in the game against Sheffield United.

Showunmi scored the all important leveller in the game after United took a very early lead in the second minute of the match and he'll be hoping he can now replicated his form from before his back injury when it comes to performances in front of the net.

Speaking to the Official Site following his chest in, Showunmi said that with Campbell-Ryce already putting a cross into the near post only a minute or so previously, he knew roughly where the ball was going to go, so just tried to get on the end of it and thankfully it went in.

'It was good to get the goal because it's been a long time and I've obviously been out for a long time. I've had back to back 90 minutes, which is good for the fitness, and I feel extremely fit.'

He goes on to say that he'd had a word with the gaffer and said he felt good and raring to go again now, and thankfully Derry has selected him for the last three games without exception and he feels his performances have got better in each of those games as he gets sharper with regular minutes on the pitch, and obviously with the boost of confidence he'll have received from the goal, he can only now kick on further.
