'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gary Liddle May Require Surgery

Manager Shaun Derry has admitted that midfielder Gary Liddle faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after scans revealed ligament damage following the game against Bristol City.

Liddle left the game with an ankle injury following a bad clash, and with scans showing ligament damage it's possible that he will now require surgery to ensure a full and proper recovery.

Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer explained.

'It's not very good news regarding Gary and unfortunately it looks like he'll be missing the vast majority or the remainder of the season. The circumstances are now that we're losing not just an influential player but a character around the football club.'

Derry goes on to say that since he's come into the club Liddle has been fantastic on the pitch for him, but also very good in the dressing room, and whilst he knows it'll be a huge blow to the player but he's confident that he will deal with it mentally and come back strongly when his rehabilitation period is over.

In other injury news the gaffer also explained that he was hopeful that Callum Ball will be back in contention for the Crawley game, but he's certainly not going to be taking any chances with his head injury, so a return isn't guaranteed.
