Derry - We're Getting There

Manager Shaun Derry has said that although nothing will happen overnight, and despite the fact that everyone is on a high following our back to back victories, we have only just begun the hard work that he has planned for the team - but he is pleased with the improvement he's seen so far and if we can keep improving like that, more and more results will go for us.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the Bristol City encounter, the gaffer called on fans to hopefully enjoy the final pre Christmas match, especially as the club have lowered ticket prices, and help roar the boys on to what he wants to be our third victory on the bounce.

However, he still caveats that by talking about the fact we are very early on in the changes he's trying to introduce and it will take time.

'You can't change it overnight but bit by bit, we're getting there. Come and see us how we're playing now and hopefully you'll get value for money. The Christmas period is going to determine a lot between now and the end of the season, we need to be in the mix and be closer to the group than we was before last Saturday.'

Christmas is notorious in the league because for some reason it always does seem to fracture into different groups, and baring both a fantastic or a really poor run, a team doesn't often move far - in normal terms - from where they are following the immediate New Year fixtures, so being part of the group out of the relegation places and with a bit of breathing space on those teams below us, would be huge, for confidence alone.

If we can get three back to back wins, it will have been a huge turnaround in our fortunes and everyone really can be pleased with their efforts in more recent times.
