Two Soft Goals Cost Us
Manager Chris Kiwomya has focused on County giving away two soft goals in the Friday night match against Swindon Town.
The goals might have been sloppy but it's difficult when you look at the stats to believe county could've achieved more than a share of the spoils on the night, but even then many Swindon fans would've felt harshly done by.
Speaking to the Official Site following the match, the manager implored the players to cut out the errors at the back as we slumped to our eighth defeat of the league season.
'We cannot come to teams like this and give them two goals like that. I'm disappointed for the boys because we've been playing so well and in the first 10 or 15 minutes we looked as though we were going to be a team that could have got some points.'
All that early promise was undone by their first corner and then we gave away the penalty and that was basically it for County on the night. The second half we could do nothing but chase, but they had the position and the confidence and could sit back which made our job all that more difficult.
Conceding from the set piece obviously struck a chord with Kiwomya who went on in the interview to point out that we had four corners in the opening ten minutes by his count, but nobody showed the desire to really get on the end of one of them and make it count.
It's those margins and that effort that will see us climb the league after our disappointing start, and it's something he wants the team to learn quickly - especially as performances had improved lately and we were starting to eek out some results.
