'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Strength & Conditioning Coach Joins Up

New strength and conditioning coach Lee Fearn has joined up with the Magpies backroom staff to make preparations for the players' return to training.

The 27 year old former West Bromwich Albion employee has his schedule for the players already in place so everybody can hit the ground running, and he's already started gym work with a number of youngsters and he finds his feet at the club.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

'The preparation is done and we are all ready for when the players come back. We have organised all the sessions and got the equipment sorted and I'm raring to go. The gaffer is very keen to have very powerful and fast players and it will be my job to put programmes into place to enhance their capabilities and to make them stronger and faster.'

Fearn says that balance is the key to fitness growth and pushes the players too hard too quick will just result in injuries and niggles, so it's all about the timing and the groundwork he can do with them before trying to lift them up a gear.

Fearn explains the move from West Bromwich Albion to us as being one of a career step where he had the choice to remain as an assistant or take the opportunity to step up with us and as far as he was concerned, it was an opportunity he couldn't turn down.
