Youth Team Players Sign Professional Deals
Strikers Romello Nangle, Malachi Lavelle-Moore and midfielder Kyle Dixon have impressed in the last two years and have been rewarded with professional deals.
All three players have been involved with the first team this season, and fans will remember that Nangle scored his debut goal against Colchester this season.
However, second year scholars, Liam Guest, James Randall, Mitchell Clarke, Kameron Campbell and Matthew Crust have been released from the club.
Academy manager Mick Leonard said this was always a difficult time for him, but he was confident that even those released would find doors that opened for them.
Speaking to the Official Site he explained.
'It's a bitter sweet time and it's probably the hardest part of my job. It's always difficult to tell someone that they haven't quite made the grade, but I like to think that the programme all the lads have been on will open other doors for them.'
He adds that he believes a few of the lads will have a chance in America which will be a great experience for them, and he thanks them all for their hard work and effort over the past few years.
As for those offered contracts, he reiterates that both he and Chris Kiwomya have told them they are effectively back at the beginning now and they have to push themselves even harder if they are to make the next breakthrough and really kickstart their careers at the club.
Since County reintroduced the Academy, 10 players have now been given professional contracts.
